SPIRIT AIRLINES

Spirit Airlines was looking to streamline its Team Member training, professional development and compliance tracking by consolidating employees on a single learning management system (LMS). Previously, departments were using different training tools and methods for tracking and reporting, which made companywide monitoring efforts difficult. One main requirement for this centralized LMS was a strong mobile application to support off-site training. Because Spirit Airlines operates within a highly regulated industry, the company needed a way for each department to have clear visibility into training assignments, completion, and competency.
Now, our team members have regular report requests. That, to me, is a testament to how much the organization is relying on this tool for learning, tracking, compliance, and understanding how well our team members are interacting with training. And because we are highly regulated, there are some unique requirements for how we report on this information.”
SOLUTION
Since early 2020, Spirit Airlines expanded its number of LMS users from 19K to 30K and added the following groups to the SumTotal LMS: airport services, OCC (dispatch), and guest care.
To foster buy-in and adoption during this transition, the Spirit Airlines training team partnered with SumTotal to create a custom manager dashboard tailored to
meet its specific needs. This dashboard’s easy-to-use interface is designed to show managers assignments, completions, and certifications, as well as enable
the organization to track overall compliance.
The ability to provide personalized reporting to training groups facilitates more effective training design and delivery. In addition, SumTotal offers convenient and
reliable options to deliver remote training, including a mobile application. As a result, Spirit Airlines has been able to decrease its need for in-person training and
reduce overall training costs.
